Most of us would say
that we are overall good people. We never have done anything really
bad. So, because a person is good and does really nice things, can
that person get into heaven on those good works alone?
“For by grace you have
been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift
of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians
2:8). We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (see
Romans 3:23). Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love
towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us.”
Messed Up?
Have you ever lied? If
yes, then you would be considered a liar. Have you ever stolen
anything whether large or small? If yes, then that would make you a
thief. There are eight more commandments that Exodus 20 speaks about
that we haven't even covered.
When standing before a righteous and
holy God in the Day of Judgment, just from these two commandments
alone, would you be guilty or innocent? We would all be guilty of
breaking the law. Since we have all sinned, how could anyone get into
heaven?
We are sinful in nature
and therefore we deserve death.
Because we have sinned against God, we
deserve eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. Because of sin, we
are separated from a holy God. Jesus, perfect and sinless, came to
this earth and died on the cross for us.
The blood of Jesus is what
covers our sins.
It is His blood that washes us white as snow. It is
through Jesus Christ, that we receive the free gift of salvation.
When we choose
the free gift of salvation offered through Jesus Christ, there is a
change that takes place within us. We become a new creation in Christ.
Because of the redeeming work of the cross, we are justified by faith.
We are justified and restored into the Kingdom of God.
We now have a
legal standing before God. As a new creation in Christ, the Father
will no longer see the old sinful you, He will instead see the blood
of Jesus.
"...The
word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the
word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth
the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him
from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes
unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation...For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be
saved."
Romans
10:8-10, 13
Right where you are, God
wants you just the way you are. Don't try to "fix" the things in your
life before coming to Jesus. He loves you unconditionally. Jesus died
for you so that you can spend eternity with Him.
This same Jesus,
whom God raised from the dead, is seated at the right hand of the
Father. God has made Jesus both Lord and Christ (see Acts chapter 2).
Do you want to know Jesus?
"For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life"
John 3:16
Confess your sins to the
Lord and ask Him to forgive you. Repent of your sins. This is the act
of turning from sin and changing one’s orientation from rebellion
against God to acceptance of God’s will and Lordship.
Just Believe
Believe that Jesus is
the only way. Believe, by faith that Jesus died on the cross and
rose from the dead. Believe that through Jesus, you have the free gift
of eternal life.
By faith, receive the free gift
of salvation. Now is the time. Receive Jesus Christ into your heart as
your Lord and Savior. Surrender your life to Him.
"For there is
no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is
rich to all who call upon Him. For whoever calls on the name of the
Lord shall be saved."
Romans 10:12, 13
“...Behold, now is the accepted
time: behold, now is the day of salvation."
II Corinthians 6:2
Are you ready?
Please say this simple
prayer from your heart. Start having a relationship with Jesus today!
Dear Lord Jesus,
I am a sinner and lost
without you. Jesus, please come into my heart and forgive me of my sins.
Please wash me and cleanse me with Your blood. I believe that you died
on the cross for my sins and I believe that you rose again from the
dead. I want to know you. By faith, I receive your free gift of
salvation and eternal life. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Please
be my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord Jesus for coming into my heart and
saving me. I am now a new creation in Christ Jesus.
The Next
Step
Spend
time talking to God. God wants to talk to you. He wants to have a
wonderful relationship with you. This is one of the ways we are able to
learn more about Him and know His will for our lives. Ask the Holy
Spirit, the Helper and Teacher, to help you and to teach you how to
pray. To learn more about the Holy Spirit and who He is, please

here.
Spend
time reading and meditating on the Word of God.
The Bible is God's
Word, His will for us. His word never fails and will never pass away
(see Matthew 24:35). A wonderful book in the Bible to start with is the
book of John (which is in the New Testament). Reading and meditating on
God's word will bring spiritual growth.
Spend time with
other followers of Christ.
Find a place of worship, a church body
that teaches and believes the Word of God. Don't neglect gathering with
others who love Jesus because this fellowship will help you to grow as
well as bring accountability. Become rooted and grounded
in love.
Get involved!
Participate in your church. We are all a part of the wonderful
body of Christ. Be willing to be taught by someone strong in the Lord.
Be willing to surrender completely to the will of God and watch God move
in every situation, every trial, and every victory.
We rejoice with you
as you take these steps in your new walk with Jesus. The angels in
heaven are rejoicing right now also!
Grow in
the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
