Freedom From Pornography

What is Pornography?

Here is the definition from Marriam-Webster’s Dictionary.

1: the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2: material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3: the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction

Let’s focus on definition 1 and 2.

It is so easy to look at different levels of pornography and set limits to what should be tolerated and what should not. But to God, pornography is sin and we must understand that sin keeps us separated from God.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

For me, I once thought that I would never get involved in pornography. I grew up in the church. I believed in God. I even understood that pornography was wrong yet I thought that I was missing out on something. I thought that by watching pornography, I would become a better lover, a better woman. I thought that I would be accepted. This is a lie from the pit of hell. The more I watched the more I wanted. The void inside of me grew and grew yet I could never fill it. I was so empty. I didn’t understand what pure love was.

Pornography hurts not just the person involved but those close to that person.

What is pure love?

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

I John 4:18

When love is pure, there will be no fear involved. If you have ever watched pornography on TV or went to the video store to rent a XXX video, you will feel fear on some level.

What if my spouse found out?

What if someone at church finds out? What if my congregation finds out?

What if someone sees me leaving the strip club?

What if someone find this magazine under my bed, or in my car, or under my clothes, etc?

Is there perfect love?

Yes there is! The love that God has for us is perfect. He doesn’t require anything from you when you come to Him. He loves us all just the way we are.

God showed His love for us when He sent His only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but His love for us. God sent His Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.”

I John 4:9, 10

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

John 3:16, 17

For some, pornography is a chain of bondage that they long to be free from. Pornography thrives on lust and fear. When a person is involved in pornography for whatever reason, it is always backed by an unclean spirit. It could be a spirit that has passed down from different family members in your family line (generational).

Here is an example. You beat your spouse but you can’t stop. You don’t want to beat your spouse. You have even gone to counseling to stop this awful behavior but yet you can’t. You begin to think back, remembering that your dad used to beat on your mom (or vise versa), your uncle used to beat on his wife and you see other family abusing their kids. You start to wonder if this could be just a coincidence. This goes for any other stronghold (divorce, alcohol, adultery, lust, etc)

“We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.”

Ephesians 6:12, 13

Trespassers

We can also allow demons into our lives by giving them “permission” to come in! Here is an example. Let’s say that you are just an average person who is not addicted to anything. You may even be a believer in Jesus Christ and living for Him. You know that as a Christian, Jesus is living inside of you but out of curiosity, you decide to go and see a XXX movie thinking that you will not be harmed by it. The problem is that when you choose to open doorways to your soul that allow the enemy to come in, guess what? The enemy does! He takes that opportunity and comes in, making himself at home. I am not saying that you will end up demon possessed but what I am saying is that our spirit may be born again into the Kingdom of God but our flesh still has to be redeemed.

“For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.”

Romans 8:22, 23

Our bodies still have not been redeemed.

We are told not to walk in the flesh but in the spirit. Since we are told this, this means that we can still choose if we are going to continue to do the things that are against God or do the things that God desires.

If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires. The Spirit and your desires are enemies of each other. They are always fighting each other and keeping you from doing what you feel you should. But if you obey the Spirit, the Law of Moses has no control over you.

Galatians 5:16-18

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit. But don't be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better than they are.”

Galatians 5:22-26

Freedom

You too can have freedom from pornography. No longer do you have to stay bound. There is a power that is greater than any sin. This power is found in the blood of Jesus. His blood is not as the blood of an ordinary man. The blood of Jesus is alive.

"To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."

Revelation 1:5b-6

It is the blood of Jesus that is powerful enough to remove every sin. There is no sin that is too dirty. For by His blood, you can be free.

"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus."

Romans 3:23-26

Now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation. Today, you can become a new creation in Jesus. Don't try to change who you are before coming to Jesus. Let His blood wash you. Let His blood cleanse your deepest wounds. Let His blood cleanse you from the inside out. God cannot lie. He is faithful and His word is true.

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

John 3:3-7

It is at the name of Jesus that every knee must bow and that includes principalities and powers of this world. This includes Satan and his angels.

Take a moment right now. Believe in God. Pray this prayer and receive Jesus Christ into your heart today.

Dear Jesus. I am a sinner. Please forgive me from my sins. Please wash me in Your blood. I believe that You are the Son of God and that you died on the cross and rose from the dead. I receive Your free gift of salvation. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. In Your name Jesus, I renounce [sins, acts, people involved] and I break every demonic soul tie that is attached to me. I am no longer dead in my sins. Now in You Jesus, I live. Thank you Jesus for saving me.

"Clean out your house"

Throw away every item that is tied to your old life. Remove every form of pornography from your car, home, job, etc. Don't allow the enemy a doorway back into your life. If you were an alcoholic, you would stay away from alcohol. As someone who was entrapped in lust and pornography, I had to clean my house also. Ask God to help you and to show you what needs to be removed from your life. Allow the Spirit of God to lead you and guide you.

Find a church home

This is a wonderful time in your life to find others who follow Jesus and His word. Ask the Lord to lead you to a Bible-believing church where the gifts of the Holy Spirit are flowing. Why is this important? It is important to hear the word of God so that proper spiritual growth can take place. This is a place to fellowship with other believers, to learn about the Lord and His wonderful plans for your life!

Welcome to the family! Don't stop now. There is an invisible Kingdom that is available to you!
