Do You
Have No Peace?
There was a time in my life when I
was growing up when I thought that the best thing to do would be to end
my life. I never told anyone; at least I never wanted to admit that
because I thought that no one would understand. I wanted everyone to
think that my life was perfect and that I did have peace. I wanted the
storms of life to go away.
Storms are considered any type of crisis that we
face.
Some storms can change our outlook for just a moment while others
can have an affect on us for years to come. Either way, through any
storm, there is a peace that we can have that can carry us to the other
side. Even now later in life there are times when I still have to face
the storms but now I realize that I am not alone.
Jesus also
went through storms...
It was evening and Jesus had just
finished healing all who were sick and gave the command to go to the
other side.
And
when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart
to the other side. Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed
Him… And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was
covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to
Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He
said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He
arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So
the men marveled, saying, “Who can this be, that even the winds and the
sea obey Him?” (Matthew 8:18, 23-27)
How
was Jesus able to sleep peacefully when a storm was going on?
In
verse 18, Jesus gave the command to go to the other side. That meant
that nothing would be able to stop Jesus from getting to the other side.
The cool thing is that the disciples were with Jesus, which guaranteed
that they would be able to get to the other side. Then when the storm
came, they lost faith because they started focusing on the storm instead
of on Jesus.
Go to the
One who is peace...
When we are going through a storm,
how often do we look for peace from outside sources instead of looking
to find peace from the One who is the God of peace? We try to find peace
in money, jobs, material things, or other people yet these options always seem to let us
down. There is no one on this earth, no drug, no magic pill that can
bring you peace. Only Jesus can bring peace.
Why do we even have storms?
Well,
the purpose of some storms is to make us stronger. Having faith through the
storms will make us be able to stand firm no matter what comes our way.
Some storms come because Jesus said that they would. He said that we
will have trails, temptations, and persecutions.
Looking through
different eyes...
Do you see that even the wind and sea
obey Jesus? Believe in Jesus. When we speak to the storms in our lives
believing that through Jesus we can make it, we can make it! The
circumstances have to change. Remember that we see things differently
looking through our natural eyes. We have to look through the eyes of
the Holy Spirit, and see what He sees. We must focus on God and lean on
Him to bring us through our storms.
You are not alone.
Just as Jesus brought the disciples
through the storm that they experienced, He is here now, able to bring
us through the storms in our lives. Jesus has sent us the Holy Spirit,
the third member of the Trinity, to be with us and comforts us. Lean on
Him. Ask Him to help you get through the storms in your life. He wants
to. He loves you.
It is only through Jesus that you can
find true peace. You have tried everything else but have you tried Jesus
Christ?
Just for a moment, think about your
life. Do you have peace? Do you feel unwanted, alone and unloved? Well,
I know Someone who can fill the void in your heart, the emptiness that
seems to never go away.
When Jesus came into my life, it was
the best experience that I could ever have.
Take a moment to say this simple
prayer to receive Jesus Christ into your heart.
Dear Lord Jesus,
I am a sinner and lost
without you. Jesus, please come into my heart and forgive me of my sins.
Please wash me and cleanse me with Your blood. I believe that you died
on the cross for my sins and I believe that you rose again from the
dead. I want to know you. I want to receive this peace that only comes
through you. By faith, I receive your free gift of
salvation and eternal life. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Please
be my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord Jesus for coming into my heart and
saving me. I am now a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Now my dear friend, the Bible says that you are a new creation! (Read II
Corinthians 5:17). From
this moment on, know that not only do you have eternal life
through believing in Jesus but you also have peace that comes from
knowing Jesus as well! You are not alone!
Life is never going to go smooth all of the time but isn't it wonderful
having Someone with you who is able to help you get through it all. Best
of all, He will never leave you nor forsake you!
